We are seeking a Manager, Risk and Assurance to join a purpose-driven organisation at the forefront of the energy transition. Reporting directly to the Director, Risk and Assurance, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening governance frameworks and coordinating assurance activities across the organisation. Unlike a traditional APS agency, we operate with a culture more akin to the private sector, fast-paced, innovative, and impactful.
This isn't a "check-the-box" compliance role. While we have technical expertise in place, we need a communicator who can "bring people along." You will be the bridge between technical risk data and the broader business, ensuring that assurance activities are practical, timely, and well-understood by everyone from the CEO down.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Stakeholder Engagement & Influence: Build a positive culture of risk ownership by developing strong relationships and influencing the implementation of agreed actions.
Assurance Coordination: Manage the day-to-day engagement with outsourced internal audit providers and external auditors (including the ANAO).
Information "Translation": Take complex risk and assurance information and simplify it for diverse audiences, ensuring it is clear and actionable.
Framework Management: Support the operation and continuous improvement of risk, audit, and fraud control frameworks.
Hands-on Delivery: As part of a lean and effective team, you will be responsible for your own administration and must be comfortable managing competing priorities independently.
Technical experience in audit or risk is essential, but strong stakeholder engagement skills are a high priority. We are looking for a collaborator who can navigate complex organisational dynamics with ease.
What you bring:
Exceptional Communication: The ability to "dumb down" complex assurance info and prepare high-quality executive-level advice
Relationship Focus: Proven experience coordinating audits by collaborating effectively with external providers and internal stakeholders
Public Sector Savvy: A strong understanding of internal controls and assurance frameworks, preferably in a Commonwealth context
Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, audit, risk, or a related discipline
Mindset: A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure and meet critical deadlines
At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
